Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the 3-star Muthu Dalmally hotel is set against the backdrop of the Dalmally Horseshoe, a stunning mountain range. The hotel is in the small highland village of Dalmally, a popular visitor spot. There is a lot for you to explore in the nearby scenery, rivers and lochs of Argyll & Bute.

The River Orchy winds through the village and you can take a peaceful waterside walk to the 300-year-old Dalmally Bridge to spot salmon, trout and even the odd otter.

In the evenings, you can relax in the hotel lounge bar which has nightly entertainment and a dance floor, plus a snooker room. If you prefer a bit of tranquility, there’s a large quiet room for reading and relaxation, plus a conservatory lounge filled with hanging plants and flowers. The hotel has free wifi throughout.

Dalmally is well known for its various walking routes leading to historic sites. These include the Old Military Road, the Duncan Ban Monument, Glen Strae, St Conan’s Kirk and Glenorchy Parish Church.

The Glasgow to Oban railway line passes through the village, making it a convenient place to visit. Dalmally also has a variety of shops, pubs and eating places to explore.

Argyll & Bute

Situated on Scotland’s northwest coast, Argyll & Bute is a region of abandoned castles, ancient burial grounds and historic whisky distilleries. Outdoors lovers will enjoy exploring the area’s mountains, lochs and white sandy beaches, whether they’re walking, hiking, climbing, mountain biking or fishing. There is an abundance of gardens in this fertile region and wildlife is everywhere, including golden eagles, red deer, seals, porpoises, puffins and red squirrels.

Great days out include Loch Lomond with its nature reserve, the fairytale Inverary Castle and the island of Staffa. On Staffa, you can visit the atmospheric Fingal’s Cave, said to be the former hideaway of a legendary Irish warrior.

You can also go on a whisky tasting tour to one of the nearby distilleries, including Loch Fyne, Bruichladdich and Laphroaig. Other attractions include the Kingarth Standing Stones, Glencoe and the Mull of Kintyre.
