Macbeth's Hillock

‘Double double, toil and trouble, pitching tents will make us grumble.’

OK, so maybe it isn’t quite Shakespeare, but it sums up how we feel about camping in dreich weather. Because between rail, hail and searching for that pesky missing peg, sleeping in a field might be fun but it sure ain’t luxury.

That’s where glamping comes in — with plush pods, ensuite showers and lots of other comforts, it’s camping with added pizzazz.

If you like the sound of that, then why not try a glamping trip to Macbeth’s Hillock in Moray? Based at the site where Macbeth is said to have met the three spooky witches, it is a scenic spot for enjoying the great Scottish outdoors in style.

Luxury camping pods

Each of the luxury ‘witches hut’ pods has an en-suite shower room, table with stools and a kitchenette with hob, fridge, crockery, glasses and cooking utensils. There is also an electric heater to keep you warm and toasty.

All pods sleep up to four people, with one real double bed and two single beds (in the form of a sofa bed with a pull out underneath). Dogs are welcome.

Moray magic

Every single pod has its own BBQ grill, picnic table and fire pit for marshmallow toasting and campfire songs. You can buy logs, charcoal and snacks at the on-site shop.

As this is a farm, there are also opportunities to get up close to the animals.

Nearby attractions include the peaceful town of Forres, Brodie Castle and the stunning beaches of Nairn, Findhorn and Roseisle.

Inverness and Loch Ness are both a convenient drive away.
